For Members

This page covers everything you need to know as an active member of the MPReviews community. Whether you are submitting your first review, managing your account settings, using private messaging, or understanding the community guidelines that keep the platform trustworthy, you will find the full details here. MPReviews has been a community-driven platform since 2001, and the members who contribute reviews, follow the guidelines, and report abuse are the reason the archive stays honest and useful.

How to Submit Reviews

Submitting a review is the most direct way to contribute to the MPReviews community. Every review you submit adds to an archive that other members rely on to make informed decisions about massage providers and spas in your area and beyond. Here is everything you need to know about the submission process.

Before You Submit

You must be logged in to submit a review. If you do not yet have an account, registration is free — you need only a username, email address, and password. You do not need to provide your real name. Once registered and logged in, you can submit reviews from several places on the platform: the main navigation menu under Reviews, any city hub page, or any individual provider listing page. Look for the "Submit a Review" or "Add Listing" link depending on whether the provider already has a listing on MPReviews.

What to Include

When you fill out the submission form, you will be asked for the following:

Provider or business name. The name of the provider you visited, the name of the business or spa where they work, or both. Being as specific as possible here helps our moderation team link your review to the correct listing and helps future readers find it when searching by name or phone number.

City and area. The city or area where the provider or business is located. This ties your review to the appropriate city hub, which is how other members will find it when browsing reviews by location. If you are unsure which city to select for a provider near a border between two areas, choose the one where the business is physically located.

Your rating. A star rating reflecting your overall assessment of the experience. Your rating contributes to the provider's aggregate score displayed on their listing page and in city hub rankings.

Your written review. The text of your review — your account of the visit. There is no minimum length, but more detailed reviews are significantly more useful to the community than brief ones. Include specifics: the provider's name if you know it, the type of service, the atmosphere, the quality of the experience, the value relative to cost, and anything else a reader researching this provider would want to know. The details that seem routine to you may be exactly what someone else needs to make a decision.

Optional contact information. A phone number associated with the business, if you have it. This is optional but helpful — it allows our moderation team to confirm the review is linked to the correct listing, particularly when a business name is common or a provider works at multiple locations.

After You Submit

Your review does not appear on the site immediately. All submissions enter a moderation queue and are reviewed by a member of our team before publication. Moderation checks for spam, policy violations, and content that does not represent a genuine first-hand experience. We do not edit the text of your review — we either approve it as written or reject it with a reason. If your review is rejected and the issue is fixable, you can correct and resubmit.

You will not receive an automatic notification when your review is approved. Check the relevant provider listing or city hub to see when your review goes live. During normal periods, most reviews are reviewed within a few days. For full details on what gets approved and what gets rejected, see our How It Works page.

Updating Your Profile

Your member profile is your account hub on MPReviews. It is where you manage your personal information, account settings, and — if you are a VIP member — your billing and subscription details. Here is what you can update and how.

Accessing Your Profile

Log in and navigate to your profile using the dropdown menu in the navigation bar or the profile link in your account area. Your profile page gives you access to all account management functions from one place.

Display Name

Your display name is the username that appears publicly alongside any reviews you submit. When you registered, you chose this name — it is what the community sees, not your real name. You can update your display name from your profile settings. If you change your display name, the new name will appear on all of your previously submitted reviews going forward. Choose a display name that protects your privacy — do not use your real name if anonymity matters to you.

Email Address

Keep your email address current. We use it to contact you about account-related matters: policy issues, moderation decisions on submitted reviews, billing confirmations, and any other communication that requires us to reach you directly. An outdated email address means you may miss important account notifications. Updating your email is straightforward from your profile settings.

Password

You can update your password from your profile at any time. We recommend using a strong, unique password — a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols that you do not use for other accounts. If you believe your account has been compromised, change your password immediately and contact support.

VIP Billing and Cancellation

VIP members have additional options in the profile area. From the same profile dropdown, you can access your billing information, view your current plan and renewal date, update your payment method, and cancel your membership. Selecting "Cancel Membership" ends auto-renewal at the end of your current billing period — you retain VIP access through the period you have already paid for and will not be charged again after that. There is no cancellation fee and no requirement to contact support to cancel. For full details on how cancellation works, see our VIP Membership page.

Messaging Rules

VIP members on MPReviews can send and receive private messages to and from other members. This feature exists to support genuine member-to-member communication — sharing information, asking questions, and building the kind of peer connections that have always been part of a real community. Used properly, private messaging extends the value of the platform beyond the review archive itself.

Because messaging is a direct communication channel, it comes with clear rules. These rules exist to keep the feature functional and safe for everyone who uses it.

What Messaging Is For

Private messaging is for legitimate, respectful communication between members. Examples of appropriate use include discussing a review or provider, asking a fellow member for their experience with a particular location, sharing information that would be useful to someone researching the same area, or connecting around shared interests within the community. The feature is intended for genuine peer-to-peer communication between members who have found each other through their shared use of the platform.

What Messaging Is Not For

Spam. Do not use private messaging to send unsolicited bulk messages, promotional content, or repeated contact to members who have not engaged with you.

Harassment. Do not use messaging to intimidate, demean, threaten, or persistently contact a member who does not want to hear from you. Any message that a reasonable person would experience as harassing is a violation of these rules.

Solicitation. Do not use private messaging to advertise, sell, or solicit services — whether related to massage and spa services or anything else. This includes business outreach, affiliate marketing, and any other form of commercial communication directed at members through the messaging system.

Illegal activity. Do not use messaging to arrange, facilitate, or discuss illegal activity of any kind. Messages that include requests for or offers of illegal services will result in immediate account review and may result in account termination and reporting to appropriate authorities.

Enforcement and Reporting

We take messaging abuse seriously. Accounts found to be using the messaging system in violation of these rules may be suspended or permanently terminated, depending on the severity and pattern of the violation. A first-time minor violation may result in a warning; repeated or serious violations result in account action without warning.

If you receive a message that you believe violates these rules — spam, harassment, solicitation, illegal content, or anything else that should not be in your inbox — report it immediately. Use the report option within the messaging interface to flag the message for review by our moderation team. Do not engage with the sender; simply report and let us handle it. Your report is reviewed and action is taken when violations are confirmed.

Community Guidelines

The MPReviews community guidelines exist to keep the platform honest, useful, and safe for everyone. Every member agrees to these guidelines when registering. Following them is not optional — they are the rules by which all community participation is governed.

Reviews Must Be Your Own First-Hand Experience

Every review you submit must be based on a visit you personally made. You may not submit a review of a provider or business you have not visited. You may not submit reviews on behalf of someone else. You may not submit reviews based on secondhand accounts, rumors, or information gathered from other sources.

This rule exists because the entire value of MPReviews rests on reviews being genuine first-hand experiences. A platform full of fabricated or secondhand reviews is not a review platform — it is a rumor mill. We are not that. Every review in our archive is supposed to represent a real person's real visit, and submitting a review without that foundation undermines the integrity of the whole.

No Fake Reviews

Do not submit positive reviews of a business you are affiliated with — as an owner, employee, contractor, or in any other capacity. Do not submit negative reviews of a competitor to harm their standing. Do not submit reviews generated by AI, copied from other platforms, or written by anyone other than yourself based on your own experience.

Fake reviews are the most serious form of content abuse on review platforms, and we treat them accordingly. Accounts found submitting fake reviews are subject to immediate suspension or termination. If you are a business owner or provider and you discover someone submitting fake negative reviews of your business, the appropriate action is to report it through our abuse reporting process — not to counter it with fake positive reviews of your own.

No Copying From Other Sites

Your review must be original content that you wrote. Do not copy text from other review platforms, from your own submissions on other sites, from business descriptions, or from any other source. Duplicate content and plagiarism are treated as policy violations and are grounds for review rejection and account action.

No Threats, Personal Attacks, or Harassment

Reviews and all other community participation must be civil. Disagreement and negative opinions are allowed — and expected, on a review platform. But disagreement must be expressed in ways that are factual and relevant to the experience, not in ways that target individuals personally. Do not make threats of any kind. Do not use reviews or messages to personally attack, intimidate, or harm individuals. Do not publish private information about individuals — including addresses, phone numbers, or identifying details — that they did not make public themselves.

No Illegal Content or Content That Promotes Harm

MPReviews does not permit content that describes, requests, promotes, or facilitates illegal activity. This includes descriptions of or requests for illegal services, content that incites violence or harm, and content that violates applicable laws regarding privacy, defamation, or intellectual property. Content in this category is removed immediately upon discovery, and accounts responsible for it are subject to termination and potential reporting to authorities.

Enforcement

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these guidelines, with or without prior notice to the submitting member. We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate these guidelines, particularly for repeated violations or for violations that are severe in nature. Decisions about content removal and account action are made by our moderation team and are not subject to business influence. A business cannot pay or pressure us to take action against a member who submitted a legitimate critical review.

Reporting Abuse

The MPReviews community depends on its members to help maintain the integrity of the platform. Moderation cannot catch everything. Members who encounter spam, fake reviews, harassment, policy violations, or other content that does not belong on the platform are encouraged — and expected — to report it. Your reports are how we know about problems we might otherwise miss.

What to Report

Report anything you believe violates our community guidelines. Common categories include:

Fake or spam reviews. If a review appears to be fabricated — written by someone who did not visit, submitted by a business about itself, or copy-pasted from another source — report it. If you notice a pattern of reviews on a single provider that appear coordinated or suspiciously uniform, report the pattern as well as the individual reviews.

Harassment or abusive content. If a review, message, or any other content on the platform is directed at targeting, intimidating, or harming a specific individual rather than providing useful information about a service, report it.

Illegal content. If you encounter content that describes, requests, or facilitates illegal activity — report it immediately. This category is treated as the highest priority by our moderation team.

Privacy violations. If you see content that publishes private information about an individual — their real name, address, phone number, or other identifying details — that they did not make public themselves, report it.

Commercial solicitation. If you see content that appears to be advertising or promotional material disguised as a review, report it.

How to Report

Use the report option available directly on reviews and listings throughout the platform. You do not need to contact support separately — the in-platform report function routes directly to our moderation team. For messaging abuse, use the report option within the messaging interface.

If you need to report something that does not have an obvious in-platform report option, or if you want to provide additional context about a report you have already filed, you can contact our support team through the contact page.

What Happens After You Report

Every report is reviewed by a member of our moderation team. We investigate the flagged content against our community guidelines and take appropriate action when violations are confirmed. Action may include content removal, a warning to the account responsible, temporary suspension, or permanent termination depending on the nature and severity of the violation.

We do not always communicate the outcome of a specific report to the person who filed it, but every report is taken seriously and reviewed. You will not be penalized for filing a good-faith report. Reports that are themselves abusive — filed in order to harm a legitimate member or suppress a genuine review — are violations of our guidelines and will be treated accordingly.

Your reports help keep MPReviews trustworthy for everyone who depends on it. Thank you for taking the time to flag content that does not belong here.
