Frequently Asked Questions

Are massage parlor reviews anonymous?

Yes. When you submit a review on MPReviews, your real name, home address, phone number, and other personally identifying information are never published alongside your review. What appears publicly is your member username — a handle you choose when you register. That username is the only identifier attached to any review you write.

We designed the platform this way intentionally. Massage and spa reviews often include details that members would not feel comfortable sharing if their real identity were attached. The nature of these services — and the experiences people want to share — requires a level of privacy that standard review platforms do not always provide. On MPReviews, your privacy is protected so you can be honest. Honest reviews are the entire point of this platform, and honesty requires that members feel safe writing them.

Your account information — your email address, registration details, and any payment information if you hold a VIP membership — is stored securely and is never shared with providers, businesses, or third parties for marketing purposes. The providers you review do not have access to your account information. They cannot identify you from your review, and they cannot contact you through the platform based on a review you submitted.

There are limited circumstances where account information may be disclosed — for example, if required by a valid legal process such as a court order or law enforcement request. Outside of those narrow legal obligations, your information stays private.

From a practical standpoint: your username is visible, so choose one that does not reveal your real identity if anonymity is important to you. Beyond that, MPReviews is built to give you a private, protected space to share your experience. We have held that standard since 2001, and it remains a core part of how we operate.

How do I submit a review?

Submitting a review on MPReviews is a straightforward process, but there are a few steps to understand before you start. Here is a complete walkthrough.

Step 1 — Register for a free account. You must be a registered member to submit a review. Registration is free and only requires a username, email address, and password. You do not need to provide your real name. Choose a username that protects your privacy if that matters to you.

Step 2 — Log in to your account. Once registered, log in from the homepage or from any page using the login option in the navigation bar.

Step 3 — Find the submission form. Navigate to the "Submit a Review" section, accessible from the main navigation menu under Reviews. You can also find the submission link from any city hub or provider listing page.

Step 4 — Fill out the review form. You will be asked to provide the provider's name, the name of the business or location where you visited, the city, and the date of your visit. Then write your review in the text field. Be specific and honest — detailed reviews are the most useful to other readers. There is no minimum length, but thorough reviews carry more weight with the community.

Step 5 — Submit for moderation. Once you submit, your review enters our moderation queue. We check all submissions for spam, guideline violations, and off-topic content. We do not check for negative sentiment — negative reviews are welcome as long as they are genuine and comply with our guidelines.

Step 6 — Publication. Approved reviews are published and linked to the provider's listing and city hub, usually within a few days. You will not be notified when your review is published, but you can check the provider listing to see when it goes live.

Are the reviews verified?

Reviews on MPReviews come from registered members who submit first-hand accounts of their experiences. We moderate every submission for spam, policy violations, and content that does not meet our community guidelines. What we do not do — and cannot do at scale — is independently verify that every single reviewer physically visited every business they reviewed. No consumer review platform does this; it is not technically or practically possible to confirm every visit.

What we do instead is rely on a combination of policies and moderation practices designed to keep content genuine. Registration requirements mean anonymous, throwaway submissions are harder to make. Our moderation team reviews every submission before it is published, looking for signs of fake content: reviews that read like marketing copy, reviews submitted in unusual patterns that suggest manipulation, content that is implausibly vague or suspiciously detailed in ways that suggest the author never visited.

We have been doing this since 2001. Over more than two decades, our moderation standards have been refined and tested. We have seen attempts to game the platform — businesses submitting fake positive reviews, competitors submitting fake negative reviews — and our process is specifically designed to catch and remove that type of content.

We also rely on the community itself as a verification layer. Long-standing members who contribute regularly build a track record. Reviews from members with established histories carry more implicit credibility than submissions from brand-new accounts with no history. The community notices inconsistencies, and members can flag reviews they believe are inaccurate.

The bottom line: MPReviews reviews are as genuine as the policies and moderation processes that govern them. We take that responsibility seriously, and our 20-plus-year track record reflects a consistent commitment to keeping the archive trustworthy.

Why are some details hidden?

Some details in reviews on MPReviews are visible only to VIP members. This is by design, and the reason is straightforward: providing full access to all review content is how we sustain the platform and keep it running without relying on advertising revenue from the businesses being reviewed.

When a review is published, standard (free) members and visitors see a portion of the content — enough to understand the general nature of the experience, the provider's location, and the reviewer's overall impression. VIP members see the complete review text, including the specific details that reviewers chose to share about their experience. Those details are often the most valuable part of a review — the specifics about the provider, the service quality, the atmosphere, and anything else the member felt was worth sharing.

This structure allows us to offer free membership and free browsing while maintaining a sustainable business model. It also creates an incentive for the platform to keep attracting high-quality, detailed reviews — because detailed content is what VIP membership is built around. If reviews were uniformly thin and vague, VIP access would have nothing to offer.

It is important to understand what this does not mean. The hidden content is not negative information that we are protecting the business from. We do not selectively hide criticism while displaying praise. The content visible to free members and the content visible to VIP members are governed by the same rules — what is shown is a portion of the review, not a curated version of it.

If you find that you regularly use MPReviews to research providers before visiting, VIP membership is designed for exactly that use case. Full review access, no ads, and advanced search filters make the research process significantly more efficient than browsing with a free account.

How does VIP work?

VIP membership on MPReviews is a paid subscription that unlocks full access to review content and a set of features designed for members who use the platform regularly to research massage providers and spas.

Here is exactly what VIP membership provides:

Full review text. The most important benefit. Standard accounts see a preview of each review. VIP members read the complete review — every detail the submitting member chose to include. For a platform built around detailed, honest reviews, this is the core of what membership offers.

Ad-free browsing. VIP members browse without display advertising. The platform is cleaner, faster, and more focused when you are not navigating around ads.

Advanced search and filtering. VIP members can search and filter the review archive by rating, date range, provider type, city, and other criteria. This makes it significantly faster to find relevant reviews when you know what you're looking for.

Provider comparison tools. VIP members can compare multiple providers side by side — a useful feature when you are choosing between several options in the same area.

Access to the full archive. VIP members can access reviews dating back through the full history of the platform — over 20 years of community contributions across hundreds of cities and thousands of provider listings.

VIP membership does not give you any ability to influence reviews — neither reviews written about you (if you are a provider) nor reviews you have submitted. It is purely a reader-access tier. It does not create any conflict of interest with our review integrity policies, because VIP access has no connection to how reviews are moderated, published, or maintained.

Membership is billed monthly and can be cancelled at any time.

Can businesses remove reviews?

No. Businesses cannot remove, edit, alter, or hide reviews on MPReviews. This policy is absolute and non-negotiable. It has been our policy since the platform launched in 2001, and it has not changed.

When a business contacts us requesting the removal or modification of a review — and it does happen — the answer is no. It does not matter whether the review is negative, whether the business disputes the accuracy of the review, or whether the business claims the reviewer never actually visited. The review stays unless it violates our community guidelines.

The only circumstances under which a review is removed are: the review is found to violate our published community guidelines (for example, it contains harassment, spam, or illegal content); or the original author requests removal under our stated removal process. A business complaint is not one of those circumstances.

We do not offer a "pay to remove" option. We do not offer a "pay to suppress" or "pay to bury" option. We do not offer reputation management packages that affect how reviews appear. A business paying for any kind of featured listing or placement on MPReviews does not get any influence over its reviews in return.

We are aware that this is not how every review platform operates. Some platforms allow businesses to flag, dispute, and ultimately suppress negative reviews through a process that is opaque to readers. Some platforms offer paid removal. We believe those practices fundamentally undermine the value of a review site. If a negative review can be removed with enough persistence or enough money, then the reviews you read are no longer trustworthy.

Our policy exists to protect readers and to protect the integrity of the community's contributions. If you are a business listed on MPReviews, the best response to a negative review is the same as on any credible platform: provide good service and earn positive reviews over time.

Is MPReviews free?

Yes, MPReviews is free to join and free to use at the standard membership level. You do not need to pay anything to create an account, browse listings, submit reviews, or read preview-level review content. The core function of the platform — finding and reading reviews of massage providers and spas by location — is accessible without spending anything.

Here is what free membership includes:

  • Browse by city and county. Navigate review listings across all covered locations, including Los Angeles County, Orange County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, and other covered areas.
  • Read review previews. See the first portion of every published review. This gives you a sense of the reviewer's experience and overall impression.
  • View provider information. Access basic information about listed providers and businesses, including city, contact details where available, and aggregate ratings.
  • Submit reviews. Registered members can submit reviews for free. Submission and publication are not gated behind a paid tier.
  • Search the archive. Run basic searches by city, provider name, or phone number.

What free membership does not include is full review text, ad-free browsing, advanced filtering, and provider comparison tools — those features are part of VIP membership.

The free tier is genuinely useful for casual browsing and for members who primarily contribute reviews rather than consume them. If you visit and review providers regularly, or if you submit reviews for the community's benefit, you get full use of the platform without paying anything.

VIP membership is designed for readers who research providers frequently and want the complete picture that full review access provides. It is optional, not required. The platform is free to use.

What is VIP membership?

VIP membership is MPReviews' premium access tier, designed for members who want the full experience of what the platform offers — complete review content, an ad-free environment, and tools that make researching providers faster and more effective.

The name reflects what it is: a level of access for members who are serious about using the platform. The community has been building this archive since 2001. VIP membership is how you access all of it.

What VIP includes:

Complete review text. Every review published on MPReviews, read in full. No previews. No cutoffs. Every detail that the reviewing member chose to share is visible to you. For a platform built on honest, detailed reviews of massage and spa services, this is the defining benefit of VIP access.

No advertising. The platform is cleaner without ads. VIP members browse without display advertising interrupting the experience.

Advanced search filters. Filter reviews by star rating, date, provider type, city, county, and other criteria. When you know what you're looking for, filters make it significantly faster to find.

Provider comparison. Compare multiple providers side by side to weigh your options before visiting.

Full archive access. Over 20 years of community reviews, fully accessible. That depth of history — particularly for providers and locations with long records — is something no newer platform can offer.

VIP membership is a monthly subscription. There are no contracts or long-term commitments. You can cancel at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you do not lose access mid-cycle.

VIP membership has no connection to review content decisions. Paying for VIP does not influence what reviews say, which reviews are published, or how providers are ranked. It is purely a reader-access tier.

How do I upgrade?

Upgrading to VIP membership on MPReviews is a simple process that takes just a few minutes. Here is how it works from start to finish.

Step 1 — Log in to your account. You need an existing MPReviews account to upgrade. If you do not yet have one, registration is free and takes about a minute. Once you have an account, log in from the homepage.

Step 2 — Navigate to the upgrade page. Once logged in, go to the VIP Membership page. You can find this through the navigation menu, from the upgrade prompt shown when you reach the end of a review preview, or by visiting the upgrade page directly.

Step 3 — Review what is included. The upgrade page lists exactly what VIP membership provides: full review text, ad-free browsing, advanced search filters, and provider comparison tools. There are no hidden benefits and no hidden restrictions. What is listed is what you get.

Step 4 — Choose your plan. VIP membership is offered as a monthly subscription. Select the plan and proceed to checkout.

Step 5 — Complete payment. Payment is processed through Stripe, a secure, industry-standard payment processor. You can pay with any major credit or debit card. Your payment details are handled by Stripe and are never stored on MPReviews servers directly. The transaction is encrypted and secure.

Step 6 — Access your VIP benefits. Once payment is confirmed, your account is upgraded immediately. Refresh any review page and you will see full review text, no ads, and the advanced tools available in the navigation.

Your membership renews automatically each month. You can cancel at any time from your account settings — no cancellation fees, no friction, no runaround.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. VIP membership on MPReviews can be cancelled at any time, with no cancellation fees, no penalty, and no requirement to give advance notice or speak to anyone to complete the cancellation.

Here is exactly how cancellation works:

Cancellation is self-service. You do not need to email us, call us, or chat with a support agent to cancel. Log in to your account, navigate to your account settings or billing section, and use the cancellation option there. The process takes less than a minute.

Your access continues until the end of your current billing period. When you cancel, you are not cut off from VIP access immediately. You retain full VIP access through the end of the period you have already paid for. If you are billed on the 10th of the month and you cancel on the 15th, you have VIP access through the 9th of the following month. You will not be charged again after that.

No partial refunds. Cancellation stops future charges. We do not offer partial refunds for the unused portion of a billing period. Once a monthly charge is processed, that period is non-refundable. Cancelling before the next charge is the way to avoid being billed further.

Reactivation is easy. If you cancel and later decide to return to VIP, you can reactivate at any time using the same upgrade process. Your account history and any saved preferences are retained.

We designed cancellation to be straightforward because we think making it hard to cancel is a bad practice. If VIP membership is valuable to you, you will stay. If it is not, you should be able to leave without friction. That is the only approach consistent with a platform built on fairness and transparency.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. All payment processing on MPReviews is handled by Stripe, one of the world's leading payment infrastructure companies. When you enter your card details to upgrade to VIP membership, that information is transmitted directly to Stripe's secure servers using industry-standard TLS encryption. Your full card number, CVV, and billing details are never stored on MPReviews servers.

Here is what that means in practical terms:

Your card data never touches our servers. Stripe handles the full payment transaction. MPReviews receives a confirmation of payment and a secure token that allows us to manage your subscription — but not your actual card details. Even if MPReviews servers were ever compromised, your payment information would not be exposed because we do not hold it.

Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant. The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) is the security standard that all organizations handling card payments are required to follow. Stripe holds the highest level of PCI certification. This means your payment is processed within an environment that meets the most rigorous security requirements in the industry.

Encrypted connections. All pages on MPReviews where account or payment actions take place are served over HTTPS with SSL/TLS encryption. The padlock in your browser address bar confirms that the connection between your device and our servers is encrypted.

No sharing with third parties. Your payment information is used solely to process your VIP membership subscription. We do not sell, rent, or share your billing details with any third party.

If you have a question about a charge, believe a charge was made in error, or want to update your payment method, contact us through the help process outlined on our contact page. We will address billing questions promptly.

How do I get help?

If you need assistance with your MPReviews account, have a question about your VIP membership, want to report a review that may violate our guidelines, or have any other issue, there are several ways to get help.

Read the FAQ and documentation first. Many common questions — about submitting reviews, VIP access, cancellation, and how the platform works — are answered on this FAQ page and on our How It Works and For Members pages. If you have a question about how something works, checking these pages first is often the fastest path to an answer.

Use the contact form. For account-specific questions, billing issues, or matters that are not covered in our documentation, use the contact form available on our contact page. Describe your issue as clearly and specifically as possible — include your username, the nature of the problem, and any relevant details. This allows us to route your request appropriately and respond faster.

Report a review. If you believe a published review violates our community guidelines — for example, you believe it is spam, was submitted by someone who did not actually visit the provider, or contains harassment or illegal content — use the report function directly on the review. Every reported review is investigated. Do not use the contact form for review reports; use the in-platform report tool so it reaches the moderation team directly.

For billing and payment issues. If you were charged unexpectedly, need to update your payment method, or have a question about your VIP subscription status, log in to your account and check your billing settings first. If the issue is not resolvable there, use the contact form and include "billing" in your message so it is routed to the right team.

Response time. We aim to respond to contact form submissions within two to three business days. Moderation-related reports are typically reviewed within a similar timeframe.
